GA, mountains, Odem Springs, Union County, wine tour, winery Blairsville GA, winery tour
This scenic motorcycle route connects two distinctive North Georgia wineries through approximately 20+ miles of Union County's most picturesque mountain terrain. Starting from Redtail Mountain Winery in Blairsville, the journey takes you westward through the rolling Appalachian foothills to reach the historic Odom Springs Vineyards in the Young Cane valley. The route winds through pristine back-country roads, passing landmarks like Bunker Hill and offering glimpses of Sheep Knob along the way. You'll experience a perfect blend of sweeping curves and technical sections as you navigate the ancient mountain landscape, transitioning from the Blairsville area toward the western end of Union County. The destination, Odom Springs Vineyards, sits on 16 acres of Odom family land in the Young Cane community - a family-owned estate winery with deep roots stretching back over a century. The Odom family has farmed these hills for generations, and their property includes multiple vineyard sites (Creekside, New Ground, and Hillside vineyards) spread across their 60-acre farm known as "Pop's Walk." What makes this leg special is the contrast between your starting and ending points - from Redtail Mountain's elevated setting to Odom Springs' valley location steeped in authentic Appalachian farming heritage, complete with a historic one-room schoolhouse where the current owner's father and uncle once attended school. This route offers riders an excellent combination of technical mountain riding and a genuine taste of multi-generational Appalachian wine country tradition.
